The location of this hotel couldn't be better, right across Kumamoto Station. It's super convenient for traveling and finding something to eat. Plus, the hostel is well-kept and clean, with excellent bathrooms that are spotless. The beds, although bunk beds, provide a sense of privacy with their individual curtains, making it feel like having your own private space.
That it could get a bit too warm to sleep comfortably with so many people in the same big shared room.

We had an amazing romantic escape at this hotel! the front desk staff were very welcoming and accommodating. We loved the excellent location near the train station and shopping centers but without the noise. the comfortable bed and clean bathrooms are a plus! We also enjoyed access to laundry facilities and the convenient storage room for our luggage.
The walls separating each room are not soundproof, making it easy to hear noise from the next room. the top bunks were too high and difficult to climb up, making lower bunks a better choice for some guests.

The receptionist at Hotel The Gate Kumamoto kindly reminded us to set our cellphones to vibrate mode, ensuring a peaceful night's sleep. The location, right next to the train station, was incredibly convenient for exploring the city. The dorm beds provided excellent privacy, thanks to separate entrances and bunk beds that blocked the view of others. The common area was comfortable and relaxed, perfect for hanging out. I highly recommend this hotel for its helpful staff and great amenities.

This hotel is a great value for money. You get free pyjamas, toothpaste, and towels which is a nice gesture. It is located near public transport, making it easy to explore the city. the staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. The lounge area is an ideal place to relax and socialize with a bar, which was a plus.
The eating area was not comfortable, and the smoking room and laundry room combine to create an unpleasant smell. This could be a turnoff for some.
